News Agencies are reporting Friday that a Bryanston family had lost almost all their possessions in a fire that gutted their home around noon.

According to Gauteng paramedics a woman and her two eighteen-month-old children who were in the house when it caught fire escaped unhurt.

Vanessa Jackson, the ER24 spokeswoman, said that the woman had kept a cool head, collected the children and removed them from the house before the fire got worse.

She said that firemen had only managed to salvage a few pieces of furniture from
the burnt-out shell of the house.

Presently the cause of the fire, which is believed to have started from the roof, has not been established. An investigation will be opened which is routine in these cases.

The paramedics said that the woman and her two babies appeared unharmed but reccommended they consult a doctor for any possible after-effects they may have suffered from smoke inhalation.
