A 19-year-old youth has committed suicide at Vasco Station by jumping in front of a moving train. The result of this tragedy has been the cutting in half of his body. According to Wayne Theunis, Goodwood police spokesperson, the deceased tossed himself under a moving train and as yet he remains unidentified. Theunis said : "He has not yet been identified, we are waiting for someone to come forward for identification. Apparently the teenager walked towards the speeding train and was sliced in half across his stomach shortly before 5pm. Police were only able to recover his upper body while teams of forensic investigators combed the area trying to find the rest of it. Metrorail spokesperson Riana Scott said that an eyewitness has confirmed that the death was an act of suicide. "Trespassers gain illegal access to railway reserves by breaking through fences to create an informal pedestrian route, even in areas where bridges or subways exist," she said. Peak hour trains are being delayed as a result of the incident.
