In a surprise move Friday England goalkeeper David James has joined Championship club Bristol City.
The keeper turned down a move to Glasgow Celtic instead agreeing a one-year contract with an option for a further year with the English club.
James, who is leaving Championship club Portsmouth, has been a regular England international under Fabio Capello earning more than 50 caps overall.
His first game will be against newly-promoted Millwall at Ashton Gate on August 14, the opening day of the new season.
He says he plans to play in the Premier League with City and is delighted with the club's location which is close to his home in Devon.
