The 2010 Grammys took place on Sunday, 31 January at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The Grammys this year definitely proved themselves to be the biggest night in music by having an average audience of 25.8 million viewers which increased from last year’s telecast by 35 percent.

Beyonce not only gave an electrifying performance, she also made history by winning six Grammys, yes six! This number was the most won by a female artist at a single event and she was still modest enough to be nervous when she made her first speech, wow!

She missed her chance to accept her award for Best Song Of All Time for ‘Single Ladies- Put A Ring On It’, (where was Kanye West when we needed him most? To say I told you so, I wonder if he received an invite…)

Oh back to the performance, Beyonce left the audience in a clapping frenzy after she pulled off a show stopping military inspired performance of ‘If I Was A Boy’ mixed with Alanis Morissette’s ‘You Oughta Know’ , she was sexily clad in an outer space minidress that looked a little Rihanna inspired.

The ‘bootylicious’ songstress came out marching behind her dancer ‘soldiers’ and performed as though her life depended on it.

I do think she should have chosen a different song though.

A stylishly dressed Kings of Leon accepted 3 Awards: Record of the Year, Best Rock Song and Best rock performance. It is great to see that the people behind the scenes at the Grammys are thinking out of the box.

Lady Gaga tore the roof off the Staples Center when she performed ‘Poker Face’ , she was then joined by Elton John on stage and they did a piano showdown of her ‘Speechless and his ‘Your Song’.
She took home awards for Best Dance Recording and Best Electronic Dance Album.

Other artists who won two awards include Colbie Caillat, Eminem, Kanye West, Jason Mraz, A.R. Rahman and Rihanna.

Pink took her performance to new heights when she pulled off an acrobatic stunt where she swung in the air on a water dripping sheet, amazing performance and beautiful outfit, a white – angelic but revealing gown which she took off in the middle of the performance to reveal a tan coloured bodysuit.

The Michael Jackson tribute was amazing, Celine Dion, Usher, Jennifer Hudson and Carrie Underwood sang MJ’s Earth Song and his kids Prince and Paris Jackson came out to accept their father’s Lifetime Achievement Award, touching stuff.

I am still wondering how Michael Jackson managed to have such white children though….
Taylor Swift's ‘Fearless’ was awarded the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, Swift's first Album of the Year award in her career, she also won Best Country Album Of The Year.

Mary J. Blige and Andrea Bocelli paid a tribute to Haiti with a stirring version of "Bridge Over Troubled Water."
