As I have said before, a lot of the writing that I am sharing with you, I was fortunate to learn at the feet of my spiritual teachers, my parents and from life itself. Before we can deal with our day to day challenges we have to know and understand its root of origin. What I am saying is first know yourself, then the rest falls into place...
Part Two of the Root of War ‘Accord & Discord’
One cannot remain idle; because without movement there is no manifestation of life. Our daily projects, in their success or failure, show us more of our inner state and to what extent we allowed it to affect us. Therefore the more one is attached with the outer projects the more it is proof that inwardly one is shackled. This does not mean that an inwardly liberated person will not have outward projects. It is the relationship with those projects, and the extent of attachment to them that blind us and causes a breakdown in relating our inner state with the overall circumstances we find ourselves in.
All of creation was in absolute unity before manifestations and within time there was infinite diversity and multiplicity. And again, in time, they will all revert back to the same unity. For example, every drop or molecule of water that has left the ocean appears as separate, but eventually they all return back to the oceanic world. So does every spark emanating from a fire. The human soul is like that; the same in every one of us, but covered by its own shadows and peculiarities that make up the specific personal identities, resulting from parental genes and the culture (i.e. nature and nurture).
We all seek for complete reconciliation between the infinite light of the soul and the finite patterns in the mind and value systems. That is the meaning of all of us being the same in the eyes of God, and we are closest to Him according to our awareness of His presence in our hearts.
According to the People of Sharia (Islamic Jurisprudence), we are treated equally in this world, and thus we all stand together in our formal worship, irrespective of rank and position (like in Salat). The People of Haqiqa (Study of Spirituality) say: ‘no two people who are standing together in their prayers are the same. That relates to an inner aspect, and we can only abide by the need to acknowledge outer equality’.
Our consciousness is a mixture of our awareness of our oneness and our dispersion. The two come together to form a lens that we view the world through. To understand the state of others, replicate that state within ourselves so as to understand them.
Let our mirror fully reflect theirs. To be angered is to identify and liken someone’s fault within you, so in truth we are potentially angered by what lies within us. We are given little knowledge, because that is all that is relevant for that moment or experience in time. All other moments or experiences thereafter are an extension on that knowledge, which is another extension of the knowledge which came before that. Knowledge is relevant information for that instant, which renders us most wholesome or fulfilled, which is to allow the natural healing situation to take root, to allow the imbalance to be addressed, so as to re-attain balance. Knowledge and action are always together –inseparable. That is what distinguishes knowledge from information. Knowledge is what we use at that particular moment, which is information brought to life – life dynamics.
Life can only manifest in movement and change, which are aspects of dispersion and separation. We cannot change our environment totally, thus it is more appropriate to change our mind set and read the situation as it is, rather than try to battle with the situation. Reading appropriately could also mean to move away from that environment. However, if we are completely at unity with our soul, then the colour and energy of those around you will not afflict you.
All human beings are attracted to every aspect of unification, such as meeting old friends, or visiting places familiar from our childhood, or foods that we loved years ago, or anything that reminds us of harmony, balance, stability and unity. The soul in our heart is constantly beaming the frequency of absolute unity, whereas our minds and all of our experiences repeat dispersion, diversity and discordance. Thus the human being is caught between accord and discord. And like everything else in life, the difficulties, constrictions and vices are all there as keys or doors to the original light of one, and all these shadows are the agents of that one power.
My meanness, if looked at with my innate consciousness of desire of generosity, will lead me to generosity. But if I persist in meanness, the inner awareness or desire for generosity will disappear in time, and thus I am cast totally in the valley of that vice and I am immersed in despair.
