Knysna woman raped by policemen from whom she sought helpTuesday, February 09, 2010 | Comments: 3
A Knysna woman was allegedly raped in the main road in Knysna on Saturday by two on-duty policemen in an official police van after she had tried to solicit their assistance.
According to Southern Cape police spokesman Malcolm Pojie the 32-year-old woman had been in a restaurant with friends when an argument broke out. She decided to leave and started walking up the main road where she came across the parked police van. When she tried to request their assistance the driver dragged her into the van where she was raped by the passenger. The matter has been turned over to the George family violence, child protection and sexual offences unit, who are specialised and independent from the Knysna police, as well as the Independent Complaints Directorate. On Tuesday Knysna police officers will form up in an identity parade. If the victim can positively identify the suspects who have been taken in for questioning arrests will be made. Sapa-RS

You are right Lyndall, I find this whole police vehicle thing very confusing. This morning I witnessed two uniformed policemen in a grey 4X4 with no markings stop a car occupied by 3 men on a suburban street, then the other morning I witnessed a marked patrol car stop a vehicle and out climbed 4 men dressed in soccer shirts and other civies, (no uniforms in sight) who approached the vehicle with a 9mm drawn and an R5 rifle. Our Police are a threat to the stability of this nation and need to be brought under control!

Note that they are off duty but are driving a police van - which is why there are no vans for call outs. They use them as their personal vehicles

This scum has to be removed from our "police service" they exist in every town and city, they operate with impunity, believing that they are above the law and invincible. Bheki Cele must rid us of thie evil, before the police become a target for revenge.
