A South African Afrikaans rap band consisting of two guys and a girl, Ninja, DJ Hi-tek and Yo-landi vi$$er respectively, has taken the internet world by storm.

Their website has received over a million hits in four days and within three days of setting it up,it had crashed because the host server could not handle the traffic, the band had to pay R3000 to their host company to get it up and running again. The crash was caused by the rapid response that the group received after being featured on blog www.boingboing.net.

The site has since been moved to a US based company that can better handle the traffic.
The factor that has granted this band the most attention is controversy; their lyrics are laced with explicit and foul language which has raised a few eyebrows among conservative Afrikaners.

The trio started performing together a year ago and made their first appearance in February 2009 at RAMfest. Their ‘Zef Side’ music video has had over 200 000 views on YouTube and their facebook group has reached 15000 fans and counting.

They are now set on taking over the International market starting with a tour in Europe and Scandinavia from April and the US later in the year.

The band is also considering signing to a major global record company so they are definitely making the most of their current tide.
